Hey guys,
Following TLS map discussion I realized it has been a long time since we actually discussed things that can be done about custom maps, with exception of adding Vallente to the main ladder. Generally I liked the idea facilos posted long time ago, but we didn't have enough time to arrange everything and opted out for random map ladder which turned out to be a fail. Here's my suggestion, if it receives enough feedback and interest, we'll make a 4v4-12v12 ladder where only custom maps would be played.

The basic idea is to pick 4-5 maps, edit them for competitive sense (remove bugs, ambient sounds, replace bad loading screens etc) and merge them into CG map pack which should be simply installable. I started doing some research several months ago (maybe even last year) and saved ten maps that are most likely candidates for ladder. This means they aren't bugged, massive, over-detailed and basically would be playable in competitive terms. Let's start then.

+1 for naout and port
-1 for powcamp (overcomplicated) and tripoli (naout and port are better maps and there cant be just african maps imho )

eindhoven and factory looks cool, will check those when i got some free time

me and swedes tested out a lot of these for cb a while ago, naout was too onesided, townville and eindhoven were far too big, powcamp just becomes a pixel hunt to find people (imagine decoy but worse). gunslingers looks funny though

like the idea, but doubt it a lot.
could work better on cups than ladder, the ladder will be played 2 weeks tops.
ppl should start playing hq ladder sometimes to get some fun (:

sounds great. tripoli looks pretty awesome, don't like the rest so much. The only problem i see here, ppl are too used to standard maps, even in this map pool there are many good maps but no one plays them. anyways good to see something is moving forward in this old game. Keep this up miss.

We're just checking out gunslingers Let's use this map instead of pistol bash. Team will change sides after every round and if they win 2 rounds in row, they can chose map/side/etc.. And ofc pistols only!

Only Nout and the Port are good maps. Do not forget that big maps is bad for cod2.

I suggest Decoy_day ( I do not have pictures but excellent map ) spots are modified, and plans are little changed ( relocated )

Earlier I had a desire to create modern, simple, playable, cool look Cod2 map.
My idea was from street art style (old, abandoned town) or Or factory complex, which would have a simple look, with bright colors.

If someone is interested to make CG creative team to create NOW cod2 maps ?

If anyone knows the Radiant (cod2 edit maps softvare), and has experience in this, and have a desire to make something new with me ?
I am educated artist and understand the 3D modeling, texture (normal maps, bump, displasment, all), painting, etc .. Basically I want to make a new Objects... not to use default radiant staff

Hey, I could make something I was already playing with radiant years ago, mostly with singleplayer missions, which are way harder because of the scripting and triggering etc. The possitive thing about new map would be that bugs can be repaired directly in source file without using a code in PAM, which isn't as good as recompiling map.

So, we came through maps with @b91_ and there are our feelings:

Eindhoven - 9/10
Pretty cool map, looks like mix of Dawnville with Carentan. It looks pretty balanced with a lot of tactic options. For me, it's great competitive map.

Factory - 5/10
Little map with a lot of "unused" space on the bottom part of overview screen. Spawns are too close with both plants inbetween them. The things which makes this unplayable are both plants - no cover on them at all, so its almost impossible to plant, so basically it wont be Search & Destroy, but something like TDM with rounds.

Gunslingers - 7/10
Funny map, u could go to every single roof, which makes it more dificult. But its prolly too much open, what makes it kinda random map. But the atmosphere is lovely. :)

Naout - 9/10
Almost everyone knows it, so.. 100% sure that this needs to be played

Port - 10/10
This is so perfect map for competitive playing. Its something like Matmata. Lots of crosses and good spots on both sides.

Powcamp - 3/10
No, no, no, no and once again no. This map is so overcomplicated as it could be. Just as said @sacred2580.

St. Gatien - 4/10
Looks like Tigertown with Neuville combined, but the quality of this map is awful. All buildings are kinda small inside, like for dwarfs. Definitelly not suitable.

Townville - 7/10
This one is map where I totally dont know. Its big open map with so many routes and its onesided as hell, but.. this could be very funny to play imho.

Do we really need de_dust2 in CoD2? (facepalm)
