CGP/CGI/AEM Player Contracts - Rule Update

2017 has seen the professional esports scene in Australia grow in an unparalleled way compared to previous years. As such we are adding a new rule that will be in place for this upcoming CGPL season and covering all future CGp and CGi leagues across the site as well as for our sister site Australian Esports Masters.
Contracts between players and organisations will be upheld by CyberGamer on CyberGamer run competitions (CGP, CGI and AEM) until either their expiration or termination as a result of an agreement between the individuals involved and the organisation. For this rule to take affect organisations will need to provide evidence showing that a valid and active contract exists between the player and organisation and on the other end players will need to show evidence that they have been let out of their contract or have been bought out in a legitimate manner before being allowed to join a new team.
What this rule means is that if a player has a valid and current contract with an organisation, they will not be allowed to play for any other teams in our competitions until their contract has ended. Which is what you would expect with a contract... We hope that with the increasing level of interest in the scene this rule will help give security to those wishing to invest in it as well as hopefully reducing the need to spend unnecessary money going to court.
We believe this change is in the best interest of players and the organisations those players are a member of. We hope that this rule only needs to be enforced infrequently.
This rule is a starting point and we are looking at ways to offer players a level of protection from orgs who unfairly hold players ransom. We will have updates in the future on how we will proceed with this.
